Exchange club July 22nd 2019
In Attendance:
Michael Lavin: Cearbhall O'Meadhra:
Frank O'Rourke: Albert Brown:
Declan Meenagh: Mary Lavelle:
Paul Griffith:
Apologies: Annette McCarthy and Marian Brennan:
Declan asked someone to test the registration link on the Fighting Blindness
website from an accessability point of view , as regards registering for the
Retina 2019 conference.
Cearbhall stepped up to the plate, and found it very difficult, as regards
putting in his details,
If one makes a mistake, it will say sorry, but this makes it almost
impossible to continue.
There were a number of exclamation marks dividing up the information for
sighted persons,
But this caused confusion for the screen reader.
This is a problem for people using an Iphone, so Declan is reporting back to
the people working on the website to see if they can resolve the problem.
Paul complained about the various newspaper app's, like the Independent, and
the Irish Times.
Which now do not allow very much reading.
Albert suggested using an app called Lire, which when combined with another
app
Called Feedly, allows a person to read articles from the paper feeds, for no
charge.
Mary wants to know , how safe it is to use Apple pay,
If someone steals your phone and can unlock it, can they use her apple pay??
Mary and Paul gave information to Frank regarding reading books on his smart
phone,
Mary suggested Borrow box, and Paul enthused about audible .co. uk.
Regards Paul
