There seemed to be an issue with the notes with links. So posting them minus
links.
Welcome aboard the broom sticks for a spooky Cork Tech Club. Today we had 7
witches, wizards and demons in attendance.
Lady witch will bring you through in one piece.
On Saturday the 5th of November the Retina conference will be taking place
in Dublin and also on line. Emails have gone out with more detailed
information.
A discussion happened around iPhones and IOS updates. Cearbhall was having
issues with his phone locking and he was having difficulties unlocking it.
It was suggested to take the auto lock off.
Jackie was saying since Monday's update her phone is always stuck in the
status bar.
Jackie brought up about her air to water charges, she will report back when
she knows for sure what her bill actually will be compared to before the
heating was put in.
Martin told us that his soundscape was sorted out. Deleting the app worked.
we were told about a system called Level pay this is with Bórd Gás this
is when you pay a certain amount a month. This Money is taken out of your
bank account. We were told the credits given by the government has built up
on their account, one needs to give permission for them to use the money
thats
in credit on their account.
Jackie was asking about JAWS 23 and no one had downloaded it. Jackie was also
asking about creating a short cut for NVDA using windows11. this is a work in
progress.
Cearbhall asked about our favourite apps over this week. We all answered and
apps like Seeing AI, soundscape, facebook, be my eyes, youtube, ticktock,
podcast apps and voice dream reader featured strongly, This was a fantastic
discussion on our various apps we use daily. We also talked about using the
white cane and very little people actually knowing the purpose of the white
cane. this gave some very funny stories. We also talked about sticking
candles into your ears. This candling is best done with a professional rather
than a DIY job. Jackie swears by it.
We all took off on our broom sticks and the meeting ended.
Dublin Tech Club will be happening as normal on Monday the 31st.
Lady Witch wishes you all a very happy and spooky Halloween. Its also hoped
all Guide Dogs are OK with fireworks.
