Hi PaulI did a quick google search and upgrading to windows looks doable but
tricky. I had a PC 3 years old running windows 8.1 and this was upgraded
automatically to windows 10. You too will need to upgrade to windows 7 first
and then to windows 10.Obviously check that the specs of the PC are acceptable
- that is you have the ram, at least 1 GB, sufficient memory drive (32 GB) and
a relatively fast motherboard. Also you need a usb to create a bootable drive
on that usb. The windows 7 can only be downloaded from third party websites as
Microsoft is no longer support windows 7. Without going into details at this
point you install the windows 7 files. Next you download the media tools from
Microsoft and use that to upgrade to Windows 10.Note that your other softwares
like outlook express and Microsoft Word may not be supported with Windows 10. I
need to check that out. I was able to use my Microsoft Office 2007 when I
upgraded to windows 10.Easier solution but you pay for it could be to buy a new
or second hand ( say a 3 or 4 year old) one already running windows 8.1 and to
transfer the old data to that. Upgrading to windows 10 would be automatic.
You are aware that time is running out for that free upgrade to windows 10 (
end of this month). Â
