exchange club meeting monday july 30th 2012
In attendance:
bert brown, Mary Lavelle, Dominique Farrell, Gerryp Kerr, Cearbhall O'Meadhra
apologies for paul griffith who was unable to attend.
Bert and Gerry discussed shortcuts on the Nokia phone. These are short key
strokes eg talks key +9 reads the time of day.
Bert demonstrated the use of predictive text
using a nokia mobile phone. It was noted that these key strokes do not apply
to an i phone.
Pressing the hash key three times turns predictive text on. The hash key is
found just underneath the 9 key.
It is only necessary to press the key that contains the desired letter once.
The predictive text will produce a list of possible choices to complete the
word. This speeds up texting remarkably.
It was noted that there are bump ons available for users if necessary for the
nokia phones and probably all other mobiles.
Accessing wireless on the FB-Exchange laptop. The wireless WIFI setting failed
to connect on the FB-exchange laptop so Mary and cearbhall on set about
reconnecting it. This was managed through "Network Connections". The pasword
had already been used on previous occasions and the connection was remade
Then e mails were deleted from the laptop, and the inbox was cleared of all
previous e mails.
