Where was I in the Fall of '77? I was in Beaumont, beginning year two of a
44 year (and counting) marriage to the love of my life, carrying an 18
semester hour class load to finish my degree that semester (sadly, from
another university ....), and working 40 hours a week as a security officer
at night to pay for mine and my wife's degree and pay the rent and put food
on the table. We both finished our degrees (she on time, I one semester
late). I treasure the five glorious semesters I spent in the life-long
brotherhood that is the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band, with all the crap outs,
pull-outs, and other good bull - and I love all y'all. I really wish I had
come back to finish it out and wear boots on Kyle Field and earn an Aggie
Ring. But I didn't and, although I have deep regrets about what I missed
our Zip year, it's been a good life and I wouldn't change a thing! I
appreciate that y'all honored me by awarding me my Aggie band sweater way
back then (and I treasure it) and I'm glad beyond words that y'all still
include me as part of the BQ77 brotherhood. It means a lot to me.
Seriously - a lot. I've shared these thoughts with some of you over the
years but I wanted to take this opportunity to say it to all of you.
I've really enjoyed reconnecting with many of you through Facebook and
email and I look forward to seeing y'all at Pointon's Countermarch Farm

On my part there was some motivation. After I got home post graduation, I
had this insight from my Dad in day two. He said, “Son, your Mom and I
want you to know you can come visit anytime. But you know, a good visit is
about four days.” I headed back to A&M two days later and was on my own
from then on. Ahh...memories!!

OK, so what y'all are saying is that Jeff, Dr. Wright and Danny P., Y'all
fcuked us around and graduated on time!?
Not me! No siree, I stuck with my fish buds and graduated late! Yup, I
crammed 4 years of studies into four and a half. Damn proud of it too.

I was in grad school waiting to go to pilot training. Dean and Rolly were
finishing up grad requirements.
