Subject: [fighting_texas_aggie_band_class_of_1977] Merry Christmas
Happy boxing day to all!
I think we would have lost that bowl game even with enough players. No QB, with
an already poor offense, best wide receiver + best runner gone to NFL, best
defensive player gone to NFL. Covid was a good excuse to opt out, and not rack
up another loss.
But, I don't know jack about football.
I am very happy about the recruiting class! Remembering that Ohio State won a
national championship with a third string quarterback! Lets get like that!
Damn tired of loosing to back water schools in small, po dunk, red neck states.

Update on me - Had my gallbladder removed last week, so no more gallstones or
gallstone induced pancreatitis. I now have a new "10" on my "scale of 1 to 10"
pain scale.
On the bowl game and the 12th man, etc.....
The original 12th man story happened in the days before the NCAA had a death
grip on the rules. It happened when a player played both sides of the ball and
played until removed and could NOT return to the game when taken out for
injury. Very similar to current soccer rules. The 12th man event would have
never happened to begin with under the NCAA.
Per NCAA rules, a team MUST have a minimum of "X" SCHOLARSHIP PLAYERS available
for a travel game. I saw 53 touted as the magic number. I don't know if the
number is the correct one. A&M was down to 50 available players as of game day
projections. A few would have cleared NCAA Covid protocols the day before the
game. There would have been no time for the cleared players to get to the
game, much less engage in any practice prior to the game.
WW optouts for NFL draft + XX out for covid + YY out for injury + ZZ out for
transfer portal ==>>> not enough players.
Jimbo had ZERO control over what the team could do after it dropped below the
"magic number" for traveling.
Also, A&M was down to -1 available QBs. Haynes King is still not cleared to
play. Calzada went to the portal and is gone. Bost had surgery. The wide
receiver who played QB a bit in high school could have played the position
running nothing but option plays (apparently he throws poorly which is WHY he
started playing wide receiver in high school).
Happy New Year to all.

Being in North Carolina, I am not as connected with the facts and the news.
I just saw that the Aggies will not be in their Bowl Game. Something about
they could not field a team. Gee, I thought we were the home of the “12th
MAN”.
I thought I learned that we had the “12th Man”. That if our student athletes
were not able to field, the student body would come to their aide.
What a great opportunity that is lost to show the rest of the country what
being an Aggie is.
Very disappointed in the President, AD, and Coach. We had a great
opportunity to set us apart the rest. I don’t care about the SEC and their
rules. It is time to tall them to go bound sand. Same for when they moved the
Band from their place in the stadium.
We might not have won, but with great coaching and willing walk-ons, it would
have been a great game to watch. One for the record books.
A BIG missed opportunity.
Now, I have to watch the CFB Championship games. Maybe they will all be by
disqualifications and we can just five Alabama the trophy again.
Be safe and will this year.
