I second the motion of it being a Scholarship fund and I also second the
motion of it being a FTAB Class of '77 BQ Scholarship Fund.
I also like Danny's 3.0 gpa as the basement. Not that I would have
qualified my fish year. 8-)
Do we really need any other criteria attached? A mention on one of the
threads mentioned "needs". What will be the criteria for "needs"?
I personally dislike making awards based on "needs" as that criteria is
always way too subjective and difficult to define. I've always preferred
specific delineated benchmarks for qualifying for an award.
How will the individual be selected? All qualifying applicants get their
name dumped in a hat andone pulled?
Since I have a bunch of money burning a hole in my pocket right now due to
the Navy dumping nearly 5 years worth of retired pay into my bank account
at one time, and I'm actually getting paid on time finally, I'll match
John's pledge of $5K. It's only money and my 4 years in the Band were
worth every penny that was spent getting my fuzzy tail and this is a really
good cause.
Is this a scholarship that is a "one time" donation, meaning we can only
put money into it when it is created or will it be possible to add
additional funds to the scholarship over time to get it larger than the
"minimum" amount? The answer to that may modify how much people contribute
initially.

1. Again, why does it necessarily have to be a memorial fund? Eventually
we’re all going to croak, but why not just a FTAB Class of ‘77 scholarship
fund
2. Hopefully there are going to be provisions to add (increase) our
donations over time?
