WRT: Every time one of us croaks, our survivors can ask for donations to the
fund, as well as each of the rest of us kicking in.
As the whom is going to out live the rest of you..... why should I have to pay
in each time one of y’all croak?
How about once a vehicle or scholarship is established each of us can change
our wills or trusts to donate from that?

I could be wrong, I don't think those are the ONLY choices. It does seems
pretty clear to me that it's going to take $25k to set up anything
permanent, and that base figure will shed $1000 a year for whatever purpose
we think we need.
Personally, I prefer a permanent endowment of some sort.
As far as needing someone with big bucks, it depends on the participation.
If all 42 of us kicked in, that's less than $600 each. Not nothing, but not
huge, either. Some of the rich old farts among us could do more if they
wished.
And the main idea is to have something permanent, so we aren't doing a brand
new deal for every loss. Once we hit the initial $25K, anything over that
is just that much more for the beneficiary. Every time one of us croaks,
our survivors can ask for donations to the fund, as well as each of the rest
of us kicking in.

OK. Here it is from Dean's niece:

Unless somebody has BIG bucks, it looks like the best bets are:
Foundation Excellence. A one time shot for $10,000
Southerland Leadership. A "perpetual" scholarship for $25,000 (based on
leadership)
Endowed Opportunity. Same. Based on scholarship.
I don't vouch for the details of this info. Read it for yourself to make
sure.
Make up your minds how much your are willing to commit. (I have to admit,
at this time, things are tight trying to pay various expenses for 3 kids.
I know some of you are in the same boat. But, I am willing to pitch in.)
Decide which Scholarship you want. I am talking to Dean's niece on Monday
or Tuesday for more info.
