Good evening everyone!

Great meeting Thursday night, Celena! Your non-"mercurial" and even-keeled
personality made your "Celebrities and Gods" meeting a great one! We had 13 in
attendance, including 3 guests.

Before the recap, mark your calendars: we're planning on a fun, casual
gathering, probably at a local restaurant, for the Thursday, Dec 22nd meeting.
More details to follow. These pre-Christmas meetings are always a lot of fun,
so see you there!

A BIG congratulations is in order for Lori "Athena" High for being awarded her
Competent Leader Certificate! Lori, you're one of those people whose
organization, confidence, and sincerity quietly but effectively makes those
around you BETTER. That's the sign of a good leader and a skill not everyone
has. Thanks for being such a role model and strong leader inside and out of
our club.

Our three speakers this week achieved God-like status with their diverse,
entertaining, and informative speeches. The speakers were:

Amelia "Escrow Goddess" Autrey in, "My Buddy Award." Congratulations to Amelia
for accepting the coveted "Buddy Award" for being a good buddy by staying
behind to help one of her girlfriends during a recent hiking/camping trip to
Deep Creek Lake, Maryland.

David "Adonis" Hassler entertained us with his vivid storytelling in, "Wedding
in Paradise." I felt like I was at your wedding in the Bahamas, David, and
hope to get a Bahamian wedding officiant for my wedding! Ya, man!

Kathy "Venus" Barrett in, "Set the Goal, Just Do It!" Kathy inspired us to
participate in the many opportunities we have in Toastmasters--contests,
speeches, roles, officerships--and urged us to Volunteer, Confirm, and Commit.
Kathy will also be sending us all an e-mail that contains our speech
accomplishments so far. I got mine, thanks Kath!

Way to go David as winner of Best Speech!

Dirk "Dionysus" Kittredge tied in the meeting theme nicely with his Table
Topics. We were given a description of a god or goddess and had to relate that
to a celebrity in the news. Not easy trying to relate Tom Cruise, Justin
Beiber, Mel Gibson, and Kim Cattrall to Hades, Demeter, Ares, and Aphrodite!
David Hassler did it the best, winning the Best Table Topics Ribbon!

Earl, Lori and Pat Haugse gave three excellent Evaluations. The survey
says--it's a tie!! Lori and Pat were co-winners of the Best Evaluator ribbon!

Again, a fun and successful meeting Celena! Some final Kudos are in order for
the others who helped out with this meeting: Grammarian Sarah, Ah Counter
Adam, GE Luke, and Timer/Joker Pat H.

Hope to see lots of you next week at the CHEEKY MONK in Westminster!

Luke
