FRTM - Debate information

Friends,

The date of the debate has been set as August 19, 2010 at Thornton City Hall.  It will be a dress-up affair.  My goal is to have 45-50 people in our room.  I've been working with Simply Speaking (SSTM) recently, infact, Ray and I attended their meeting last Thursday to initiate some of the coordination.  They are very excited.

This debate is unique because I have the opportunity to complete my HPL (High Performance Leadership) Project.  The club will benefit with credit toward the Distinguished Club Goals and I will earn my Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) designation.  I've been working to get to this point for many years and the time has finally come with the right project.  I'm very excited.

That said, the HPL is a leadership project where I am to have others perform the duties, and I am planning, coordinating, and leading the team to successful completion of the event.

I need to fill a couple of roles at this point:

Event Facilitator: This person will run the debate.  A lot of the preparation work is being done by others.  This role will require basically being the Toastmaster for the event, dealing with the speakers, audience, etc.

Marketing Coordinator: We need a person to help market this event.  Because of a short timeframe, I've already done some of this work.  We need someone to help develop a plan and execute the promotion of this event.  Shouldn't be too difficult, most of the work will take place during the next two weeks.

Vote Counter: We need a representative from our group to pickup and count the votes.  Another will be present from SSTM so that the voting is fair.

FRTM Topic Coordinator: We need a member to put the list of topics together for FRTM's contribution and help do the tally of votes to determine the final topic.  I can provide more information once delegated.  Not too much work, rather a timing issue, to be wrapped up by early August.  SSTM will also be supplying a selection of topics and between the clubs, determine the topic of the debate.

Other duties will be filled by SSTM members.  I'm planning and coordinating these at this time as well.
