Robert,

Thank you very much for providing this information.  One correction though.  The DCP process is a one year project, starting on July 1 and ending on June 30 each year.

Friends,

Our FRTM history of attaining this level of excellence is as follows (there may be years prior to 2003):
  • 2003-2004 - Select Distinguished
  • 2004-2005 - President's Distinguished
  • 2005-2006 - Select Distinguished
  • 2006-2007 - [none]
  • 2007-2008 - Distinguished
  • 2008-2009 - President's Distinguished
  • 2009-2010 - Select Distinguished
One may ask, "Why is it important that the club attain this level of recognition, because after all, I'm the one who is giving the speeches and I get evaluated and grow, not the club.  What's in it for me?"

When you go to the store and purchase a banana, do you seek one that has no bruises and has the correct point of ripeness for your liking?  When you purchase a car, do you seek one that has not been in an accident, and that everything works and suits your personality?  When you hire someone to do a service for you, do you seek one that will do the best job possible for the money you spend?

The Distinguished Club program is both a measurement of the quality of our club and a reflection of how well our members are advancing through the educational program of TMI.  Considering that this measurement reflects us as a group, wouldn't you want this view to be the best possible?  Likewise, if you were joining our group, wouldn't you want to know that the club officers and members in general are striving to create the most creative and fun meetings possible so as to increase participation and achieve the member's educational goals?

The DCP quantifiably measures:
  • Educational achievement for both communication and leadership awards of our members.
  • Club growth which indicates a vibrant club and one that people want to be a part of.
  • That the club is following through on it's commitment to TMI to collecting dues and filling officer roles.
  • The club is training it's officers which in turn is reflected in effective club planning and execution.
My friends, the DCP is our image in the mirror and our measurable rating that shows we're helping ourselves to become better speakers and leaders (the very purpose of why we're members).  The DCP shows that we are following the TMI program and running effective meetings with trained leadership.  The DCP is a very important rating for us as members of FRTM and we should each wear this designation with pride.

The point person for this effort is our Educational Vice President, Robert Baker, who is working to help everyone achieve their educational goals.  As Robert requested, please provide your feedback to him ASAP so he can effectively plan how to move forward with the club.  This is very important.

Thank you,

Dirk Kittredge

Front Range Toastmasters,

I wanted to take a moment to update you with our club’s goals for the next six-month term. During each six-month term, clubs strive for Distinguished Club recognition through Toastmasters International. Below is an outline of these goals and recognitions.

GOAL

Achieve any 7 of 10 goals
Select Distinguished Club
Achieve any 9 of 10 goals
President's Distinguished Club

As of July 01, 2010, we have entered into our second term, which is scheduled to end December 31, 2010. Last term, we achieved 8 out of 10 goals. We were very close to maintaining our President’s Distinguished status. As a club, let’s get back on track toward our President’s Distinguished status!

As of July 01, 2010, here is where our club stands:

CC = competent communicator; AC = advanced communicator; CL = competent leader; AL = advanced leader; DTM = Distinguished Toastmaster

I will update the club monthly on the clubs progress toward meeting our 9 out of 10 goals. As of the start of the new term, I completed my Competent Communication manual and CJ Klingensmith completed his Competent Leadership manual. I know we have a handful of members who are within 3-4 speeches of completing their Competent Communication manuals, and we have one member of our club, Dirk Kittredge, who is one project away from accomplishing Distinguished Toastmaster status, which is the highest recognition a member may receive through Toastmasters International! We are off to a great start toward attaining our President’s Distinguished Club status.

In order to accurately track our progress towards being a President’s Distinguished Club, I need to know where you stand and what your goals are for this term. Please email me the following information:

Name:

Manual (e.g., Competent Communication, Humorously Speaking, etc.):

Completed Projects (e.g., 3 out of 10):

Goal (e.g., I would like to complete the Storytelling Series by December):
*This helps me with scheduling!!

Please fill in these four areas, copy and paste it into an email, and send it to: Robert.Baker.A@xxxxxxxxx.

I look forward to working with you in achieving your goals. When thinking about your goals, please think about the reasons why you joined the club and how the club can help your personal and professional development.  Please contact me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Have a great week!

Respectfully,
