"Wise leaders generally have wise counselors because it takes a wise person
themselves to distinguish them." --Diogenes of Sinope
Were you at the FRTM Club Contest last week?
No? You missed something amazing!
I opened with a quote because today I would like to take a minute to talk about
Leadership and what it means and how FRTM exemplifies this trait.
Savanna, did an amazing job as a brand new Toastmaster taking on the role of
Contest Chair. It was amazing to watch ~ no fear in the face of challenges ~
that is Savanna's strength. She asked critical questions and went to another
Club to help out at their Contest. She had an amazing mentor in Jennifer Dunne.
This is leadership and growth personified.
This is just one example of how FRTM allows it's members to not only develop
their public speaking skills but also allows members to become the leaders they
were meant to be.
The FRTM Contest was an amazing event filled with exceptional talent and a lot
of leaders.
Thank you to Carbon Valley Toastmasters ~ it was nice to have a couple of your
members attend and help out. (Robin McIntosh, I apologize but I didn't get
names or email address written down.)
It took many leaders to ensure the FRTM Contest went off without a hitch. From
Timers and Vote Counters to Judges and let's not forget the fabulously humorous
Toastmaster. (You should have seen Jennifer dance!)
We even had a guest bring an OLD OLD OLD FRTM banner with ribbons affixed.
To everyone who brought food ~ THANK YOU! Jeff Stoll, you did a great job
organizing one of my favorite parts of any special event *cheers*
To the Contestants ... each of you challenged yourself and delivered speeches
and table topics responses that were exceptional, emotional, passionate and
vulnerable.
It wouldn't have been a contest without you. Thank you for making FRTM a place
to thrive and grow ~ thank you for challenging each of us to step outside our
comfort zones.
The folks moving forward to the AREA CONTEST this SATURDAY are:
International Speech: Alan Wong
Table Topics: Bill Farrand
You don't want to miss the Area Contest. Both of these Contestants are
fantastic and won't disappoint.
Come and CHEER them on.
