Club Members,

I think we should proceed as we planned. At this time I have Daniel, Chris,
Lori, & Earl in the pool of speakers. Any more want to throw their hat in the
ring?

Full disclosure: Speakers won't know the topic or side until after commitment.
The date is not yet established for the event, though shooting for 8/19 or
8/26. There are club members who will help you prepare & research the topic.
You will have full club support in this project as it will be a substantial
feather in the club's cap to win this debate. We will be working on having
third party clubs do the judging to remove bias. It's gonna be a challenging
event!

So please step up if you want the chance to be selected as a speaker for the
project!

Dirk

Dirk,

I look forward to it. I will discuss this with our new president and I know she
will be thrilled by the challenge, as we have been talking about conducting a
debate event for some time.

I'm on vacation the next two weeks but once I return, we'll be making
preliminary arrangements to facilitate this event in anticipation of your
club's challenge. We will be in touch with a full confirmation soon. Thanks!

Darryle,

We discussed your challenge within our club last night and you are on my friend!

We are in the process of determining two speakers and an alternate. This will
be done by next Thursday. You should be doing the same.

The date of the debate needs to be determined between the two clubs. The two
dates re 8/19/2010 and 8/26/2010. I'll send you our club's preference next
Thursday (likely the 19th).

Once both sides have their delegated speakers, we need to determine the topic.
This should be done w/o the speakers influence/contribution. We'll put
together a list of six topics as a club, you folks do the same. We'll then
combine the lists and each club will vote. We'll combine the tally and
determine topic. We'll then flip a coin to determine what club takes what side.

We will host this event. We will supply the event facilitator/coordinator.
You will need to supply the chief judge.

Other jobs that need to be coordinated are judges, counters, timers, Sgt at
Arms, awards and refreshments. This can all be coordinated after we get the
speakers dialed in.

Please provide your thoughts and if this works for you folks. Just reply to me
as your email address will be bounced from the freelists account copied here.

Thanks!
