We had three people voted into our club tonight.  Sue Bunek, Chris Winstead and Krzysztof Walder.  We need one more to join before the end of the month and we receive a new ribbon for our banner.  We have two people eyeballing the opportunity.

We discussed ideas for our next special meeting.  The following ideas were discussed:

Running an effective business meeting: a workshop discussing techniques to make the dreaded meeting more effective.

Ad Lib face-to-face debates: Have people pair off, announce the topic, flip a coin for pro/con, give a couple of minutes to get organized, 3-5 minutes to debate.

Job Interviewing techniques/skills

Bulletless Powerpoint development, webinar/web conferencing (Krzysztof works for a web conferencing company), elevator speech workshop, how to conduct a workshop and how to coordinate a panel discussion.

If you have additional ideas, let's get them on the table now so we can determine the next event.

I have to express my disappointment for a moment.  We have 38 people in our club, and we had less than 15 members in attendance for the past two weeks meetings (<40%).

<Only speaking to those who have been missing the meetings...>

<soap box>

You joined our club in order to become a better communicator.  How will you grow in this capacity if you are not coming to the meetings?  When you joined, you made a commitment and now things are slipping.  Please make a greater effort to come to Thursday night games.  We're here for you and we need you as audience members and participants to make our club great.

Come on, let's play friends!  You're missing a bunch of fun...

</soap box>

Thanks!

Dirk
