Good evening Toastmasters! We have two roles that are open.

If you don't have a role PLEASE feel free to volunteer.

Theme: TM FAQ & SOP

Speakers: There are 2 things that you should ALSO do as you prepare for your
Role:

(1) Prepare a proper introduction and send it to the Toastmaster (that's
me!) by Wednesday.

The Introduction should include: *(1) manual you are speaking from, (2)
Project number (3) Title of your Speech

(2) Reach out to your Evaluator and let them know what you will be
speaking about.

*Provide your evaluator with #1 so they can review the criteria and
objectives IN ADVANCE and be better prepared to evaluate your speech.

You can ALSO ask them to watch for any specific habits or unconscious
distractions that you might be working on replacing w/new behavior.

*So. in keeping with the Theme for our meeting allow me to share WHY a
Speaker should write and submit an Introduction to the Toastmaster:

*edited version .(taken from Toastmasters International Website)

A Speakers Introduction is Short But Sweet
Usually 30-60 seconds. Though short, it still contains all the elements of a
speech:

. An opening : To grab the audience's attention and make them aware
of the importance of the upcoming subject.

. A body: Explain why the subject was chosen, why the speaker is
qualified to address it.

. A conclusion:. To pave the way for the speaker to begin the
presentation.

An introduction IS A Public Speaking Ritual It is transitional. It marks a
speaker's transition from being a part of the group to stepping in front of
it, leading its thinking.

Guides thinking. It sets the tone for the topic at hand, so the group will
know what to look for.

Adds power. It contributes to the speaker's authority by establishing that
he or she speaks from preparation, knowledge or experience.

Sets the mood. The introduction can prepare the audience for your speech to
follow.
