the 2011 International Speech Contest!!!
Please be sure to arrive by 6:45 for all kinds of amazing treats and to
get your front row spot for the show - And for participants it is a
requirement that you arrrive then
Below you will find roles, responsibilities and descriptions so you will
be fully prepared for tonights full line up! And if you have any

Front Range Toastmasters - Spring 2011 International Speech & Table
Topics Contestants,
Please plan on arriving at 6:45pm on Thursday, March 17, 2011. We will
have a contestants' briefing that will cover contest rules, timing and
draw for speaking positions. Please review the contest rule book before
the contest (http://www.toastmasters.org/rulebook).
If you're participating in the International Speech contest, you will be
allowed to stay in the room until it is your turn. For Table Topics
contestants, you will be taken to the break room and brought in for your
turn.
Contestants will have 1 minute to setup their speaking area and then be
announced as follows:
International Speech: Contestant's Name, Speech Title,
Speech Title, and Contestant's Name
Table Topics: Contestant's Name, Topic, Topic, and
Contestant's Name
Length of Speeches & Table Topics
International Speech is 5 - 7 minutes with a 30 second
grace period (4:30 - 7:30).
Table Topics is 1 - 2 minutes with a 30 second grace
period (:30 - 2:30)

Voting Ballots
It has been requested to provide speakers information about what they
will be judged on.
International Speech Contest
The ballot focuses on Contest (50%), Delivery (30%) and Language (20%).
Please see the details below:
Speech Development (Structure, organization, support material) / 0 - 20
points
Effectiveness (Achievement of purpose, interest, reception) / 0 - 15
points
Speech Value (Ideas, logic, original thought) / 0 - 15 points
Physical (Appearance, body language, speaking area) / 0 - 10 points
Voice (Flexibility, volume) / 0 - 10 points
Manner (Directness, assurance, enthusiasm) / 0 - 10 points
Appropriateness ( To speech purpose and audience) / 0 - 10 points
Correctness (Grammar, pronunciation, word selection) / 0 - 10 points
Table Topics Contest
The ballot focuses on all 5 of the details below:
Speech Development (Opening, body, close, organization,
smoothness) / 0 - 30 points
Effectiveness (Logic, Directness, enthusiasm, achievement of
purpose, audience response) / 0 - 25 points
Physical (Appearance, body language, speaking area) / 0 - 15
points
Voice (Flexibility, volume) / 0 - 15 points
Language (Appropriate to speech, purpose and audience, good
grammar, pronunciation and word selection) / 0 - 15 points
Maximum Total Score is 100 points.
Final scores will not be shared by any judges with the contestants.
Remember, each judge lists finishers in order. The vote counters will
then calculate the final score based on top 3 rankings of each judge.
Contestants will score 3 points for 1st, 2 points for 2nd and 1 point
for 3rd. Final winner is based on this final scoring.
