The machine reportedly ran for two weeks, not two years--but still
sufficient to show sustainability.
One of the problems we see with alleged "cold fusion" devices is a runaway
heat effect. The same reportedly happens with so-called zero point energy
devices, but that was not the case with this device, claimed to have been
witnessed by a retired professor of aeronautical engineering.

Jonathan ran this week’s meeting with the theme of alien conspiracy
theories. This involved discussing information that demonstrated an
extraterrestrial involvement with Earth.
He made his case with things like testimonials from military generals,
discussed a device found which was put on a workbench and ran for two years
-- with no power! Furthermore, he presented physical evidence like the
Starchild skull that has DNA and other elements that scientists have not
been able to connect back to known materials on Earth. Bill, you shoulda
been there 'cause it may have given you new fodder to look for with the
rovers on Mars.
The meeting had four really interesting speeches - three not of your
standard "five-to-seven" variety.
Marietta gave a recap of her HPL Conference chair project -- a report on
her video marketing effort. You can tell your planning was effective by
how many places the wheels came off the bus and by what I heard, it was a
solid bus! Good job Marietta!
Robin enlightened us with one of his best presentations yet! It was
presented seriously in three parts. He had Jeff Stoll join him on stage
so that he could council Jeff on techniques to keep his presentations
from running over time. The rationale from Robin was the he wanted to
vote for Jeff as best speaker and because he ran over time he could not
do that. Jeff and Robin arrived at the conclusion that where most people
can have three points in a 5-7 speech, Jeff will need to pare it down to
a single point going forward. So, here is a *"You must be there"* moment
where you need to see Jeff's next presentation! This is directly coupled
with "You shoulda been there" to see Robin tactfully and effectively help
Jeff. Good job you two!
Alan took the stage with a folk tale. As you know, our club has recently
been putting an emphasis on gestures. Alan's folk tale required him to
beat a dog with a stick, emulate water and fire, show a butcher both being
hung and chopping, an ox, a mouse, a cat, etc... *repeatedly*. This was
such an energetic speech that Alan was panting being out of breath midway
through! I'm telling you, Y-S-H-B-T!
Finally, Colette did an interpersonal relationship exercise. She brought
in her own speech partner from another club! That's right, Sandra Oliver
-- new meat! Colette did a superb job and in the end, the two of them
figured out where to go to eat. Perhaps a little anti-climatic(!), but
entertaining none-the-less.
Jennifer was our Table Topics Maiden, and she used slides/images to show
alien related images, requesting the respondents to explain what was going
on. A giant alien house? A skull that apparently did not come from any
homo sapien. Yes, this could have been you dealing with this stuff! But
in this case it was Ray, Sandra & Kathy who got to be creative.
Finally, Katelynn was our General Evaluator. She gave an outstanding
evaluation of the meeting. Russ used a positive/negative technique for
evaluation. Adam used a chronological technique. Richa used the manual
evaluation points as her guide. And Jerrod (What??? Jerrod was there
too, and you weren't?) used the tried and proven sandwich technique.
Of all the ancillary roles, however, I thought Durga's inspiration was
the best. She hand wrote-out what she wanted to say and carefully and
eloquently read a story about a person with Alzheimer’s that demonstrated
absolute love. It was awesome. Durga, I loved it.
When it was all said and done, best Table Topics went to Ray, best
evaluator went to Adam, and best speaker went to Alan!
