Greetings Fellow Toastmasters,
Our inferior toastmaster for the evening was Jeff Stoll. His theme for
the evening in keeping with our streak of amazing (I mean ordinary) themes
was Mediocrity.
There were 13 people in attendance with one guest in Elizabeth.
Our Grammarian was our passable Dirk Kittridge. His Word of the day was
HUMDRUM.
Jeff Stoll asked members to describe their mediocrity. Notable response
from Jonathan Kolber. Failure is a kind of success. He was a technical
writer at one time and it was so boring, he spent half the day asleep at
this desk. (Personally I think failure is a kind of failure).
Speaker #1: Katelynn Pau. Second job. Trips. Cats. Things change.
Cat has diabetes.
Speaker #2: Revathy Sukumaran. Journey with diabetes. Loves food. Cut
carbs. Diabetes affects low to middle income people. Physical activity 30
to 40 min/day, 3 to 5 days a week.
Table Topics: Jonathan Kolber. Questions on (you guessed it. . Mediocrity
Some notables.
1. Pattie Apple: How is mediocrity a problem for your profession?
People not living up to their potential, not seeing their intelligence.
2. Jennifer Dunne: Is the USA mediocre? Influencers versus Innovators.
Gradual degradation as we all get to mediocre space.
3. Dirk Kittredge: Mediocre book you've read. He chose to answer
mediocrity in our society. No reason to innovate. No reason to be of
existence. Wake up.
General Evaluator was Minjun Zhao
Evaluator #1: Pattie Apple on Katelynn Pau. Good opening hook. Planning
a vacation. Style conversational, easy to follow, humor. Moved hair,
challenge to slow down and remove "so's".
Evaluttor #2: Susie Minskey on Revathy Sukumaran. Conversational.
Citing sources. expressive facial gestures. Mindful of time.

Jeff Stoll on Minjun being general evaluator. You can sit at the cool
kids table now. Minjun's general evaluation was anything but ordinary. It
was insightful, meaningful, and organized. It was awesome.
Congratulations to all the winners tonight. I was amused and entertained
with the theme of mediocrity. Some of us tried to be mediocre and it took
effort. It was like Monk trying to lick someone's spoon other than his
own.
Makes me wonder if my remaining years will be mediocre. Will I walk with
a walker where the tennis ball is worn on one side and missing on the other
side OR will I get to ride in a diesel injected turbo wheelchair? Will I
have memory loss OR. . . (I don't remember what I was going to say).
The moral of all this is that mediocrity is a choice. Choose wisely.
Mediocrity is only amazing to mediocre people.
