Greetings Fellow Toastmasters,
Tonight's toastmaster was the amazing Jennifer Dunne and her most
interesting theme was mushrooms. 17 people in attendance. Inducted Eddie
Leon as our newest member. Welcome to the family Eddie. Word of the day
was Culinary.
Speaker #1. Jonathan Kolber.
Getting ready for a new world. Exponential change is doublings.
Everything is being pervaded by computers. Information accelerates
everything.
Speaker #2. Alan Wong
Beyond Light. Blessed is the one who expects nothing shall not be
disappointed. Truth is we know nothing until we know nothing. Car
accident to a beach bum to Riverside City College to Creighton. Gratitude
is when one realizes that life might not be. Great questions followed the
speech. (my personal favorite question was did I think the light was
heaven).
Table Topics Master was the always improving Elizabeth Wong
1. Thomas Roerick. Q. How did mushrooms get its name? A. They're kind
of mushy. Best mushroom dish is beef stroganoff.
2. Eddie Leon. Q. How do you describe mushrooms? Seasoning and sauce.
I don't really cook.
Eddie, I know you just became a member so you get a pass but I don't think
you really answered the question.
3. Robin McIntosh. Q. How do you tell the difference between a poisonous
mushroom and a regular mushroom. . A. You live to tell about it. (great
answer). Mushrooms are like snakes. Cannot tell good snakes from bad
snakes. Wait 3 hours and you will know.
4. Drik Kittredge. Q. Would you be buried in a mushroom suit? A. I've
eaten lots of mushrooms. Eaten shaggy mane mushrooms, button mushrooms.
How do you know they are poisonous? from composition. King and
Chanterelle are the best culinary delight of all of them.
5. Bill Farrand. Oh. . we're talking about mushrooms? Jennifer is
pushing drugs. Shrooms. Something you do with a crayon in the back of the
room. Drug trip meeting. What do YOU see on mushroom island? Stop the
charade. (my recap on Bill in words does him no justice, his rant was
typical Bill, so great).

Evaluator #1. Dirk Kittredge on Jonathan
EXO. appreciate the time to explain Exo. Asking screen presentation.
People see what they see. Concerned with things being cut off.
Presentation slide mode Read bullets - made us understand. Used box
boundaries.
Evaluator #2. Revathy Sukumaran on Alan
Speech was organized with a good introduction and conclusion. Storytelling
skills. Challenge to add more humor. I should expect nothing so I would
not be disappointed.
Evaluator #3. Robin McIntosh on Jennifer (being toastmaster)
Discussed before the meeting. Good handle on how the meeting was going to
take place. Mushroom theme was great. I do not like the five minute
break. Loved table topics and how it revolved around the mushroom the
theme. Bon Appetit

Best Evaluator: Robin McIntosh
It was another great meeting. Here is something between the lines of
destiny. Going back to my speech and looking back on a life that might not
be; the car accident where I almost died. And dropping out of UCLA. It's
like I did a lot to NOT be a dentist and yet here I am. I am reminded
often that I am truly blessed.
Jennifer Dunne was an excellent host and got everyone involved. I know it
was brought up in the meeting but it's worth mentioning again, good job to
Elizabeth with table topics and coming up with some very creative questions
revolving around the mushroom theme. And a shout out to Bill Farrand for
always making me smile on the inside.

Yes, I know I'll probably get fired as secretary but I've seen the light.
