Our Toastmaster was Jennifer (Again! Kudos to our President for stepping up
when needed.)

The theme was Organizing. Three systems were discussed: KonMari,
Clutterbug, and Organizing from the Inside Out. (Also, a shout-out to our
own Savanna, whose S.O.S. method has turned our home from an organizing
ordeal into an organizing pleasure.)

For the first time in anyone's memory, guests outnumbered members. We had
10 members and 11 guests!! Guests included four people there to support
Alan in his first "non-funny" speech (hah!): Roger, Shirley, Dave, and Pam,
as well as Monica's whole family of three children (Blaine, Vanessa, and
Carmen) and her ex-husband, Mike. In addition, we had prospective members
Zak Britner and Monica Edwards, and her friend Grace, visiting from DC.

(If Monica Edwards joins, we will for the first time in memory have two
members with a shared first name.)

Robin was "volunteered" to head our upcoming Club Inspirational Speech and
Evaluation Contest (really, two separate contests on the same night.) He
has already stepped up with an email you should have received today. You
have FOUR ways to participate: as a speaker, as an evaluator, as both, or
in a support role. From experience, I can tell you that all of these are
growth opportunities. We have a lot of fun with FRTM, but let's always
remember the opportunities it fosters for personal development!

Robin served as Sergeant at Arms.
Our Grammarian was Kathleen. Her Word of The Day was *agglomeration*.
Out Timer/Joker was Pattie.
I was Ah Counter.
Richa provided Inspiration--assisted by Monica's daughter Carmen, who
treated us to a rendition of *If you're happy and you know it, clap your
hands!*
We had no Gesture Master (boo-hoo! Imagine fists vigorously rubbing eyes,
from which tears are exploding.)
Richa also served as Quizmaster.

Our Speaker # 1 was Monica. This was the second delivery of her speech,
"Getting to Know My Children, One at a Time". She had previously received
feedback on how to make the speech stronger from Colette, who again
Evaluated her.

Our Speaker # 2 was Alan. His speech, "A Good Life" was supposed to be
non-funny. But, knowing Alan, some good, contextual humor slipped in
anyway. It only made the emotional impact of his serious message more
powerful...

After a break, we regrouped to Table Topics, ably led by Katelynn. She
posed a series of personal questions to members and willing guests alike.
Monica's s daughters participated, as did Zak. Monica's son, Blaine, did
not participate, though he enthusiastically climbed over some chairs and
was eager to look at papers. All three children, aged 4, 5 and 6, were
well-behaved.

It's a pity Bill wasn't present, as Monica's youngest gave an *adorable and
irresistible *explanation of why cats are the BEST animal.

Our General Evaluator was Jeff Stoll, who conducted the rest of the meeting
with aplomb.

Jeff called up Colette to Evaluate Monica. Colette found that Monica had
successfully improved the areas Colette had previously identified, and that
the speech was much more effective than before.

Then Robin evaluated Alan. He told Alan that this speech was the most
powerful alan has delivered, a striking comment considering some of Alan's
previous speeches. (Robin was reportedly seen in tears while watching the
speech delivered. Aside: some others shared my view that this speech should
be refined and delivered as a Contest speech.)

Our Winners were:

Best Speech--Alan
Best Evaluator--Robin
Best Table Topics--Colette (though Robin might have wished those two
reversed. YHTBT!)
