FRTM - The gloves came off...

Friends,

OUR CLUB HAS BEEN CHALLENGED TO A DEBATE!  Yes, the Simply Speaking Club formally and infront of a number of other Toastmasters in an open forum in Cheyenne Wyoming this weekend, challenged our club to a debate.

This is no minor challenge my friends!  Simply Speaking is very similar to FRTM in that they have 35+ members and have a very active membership.  They too have some substantial speakers to do battle.

The timeframe for the debate is just before Labor Day, on Thursday night in our digs.  They too meet Thursday nights, so they will likely have their club simply meet at Thornton City Hall.

(This is so exciting!!!)

The next move is to have our club members volunteer to be in the FRTM speaker's pool.  We will then have the club vote for the two speakers and alternate from the pool.  There will be other roles to be filled as well, including the Facilitator, Chief Judge, refreshments committee, judges, Sgt at Arms, P/R, etc.  As appropriate, these duties will be coordinated and split with Simply Speaking's group.

We should plan to discuss this at Thursday's meeting as we need to start coordinating with SS ASAP.
