You must be wondering – isn’t it too late for this? A wise sage once told
me “better late than never. Ho! Ho! Ho!”

Well then, I will tell you why YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE and why you
should not miss the next or any other contests from now on.

*Vivian and Ray Hamilton* welcome everybody with a warm smile and found
more chairs as enthusiastic toastmasters and wanna-be-toastmasters (I mean
honored guests) kept swarming in the contest room. We had 74 in attendance
at the F2/F4 Area Contests.

*Tom Hobbs*, a real Sergeant, with a hat and neat attire, and with a
distinct bright smile opens up the meeting thunderously and says “Lets do
it.”

*PJ Sherpa* gets promoted as the Assistant Sergeant and he walks around the
room making sure everything is under control (BTW, everything was already
under control).

*Colette Smith*, F4 Area Governor and FRTM President, welcomes the
Toastmaster Dirk Kittredge with a handshake (yes I said handshake).

*Dirk Kittredge*, the Toastmaster, keeps everything simple yet interesting.
He tells us a story of camping. He blows a horn. Was it a horn, Dirk?

*Joan Janis*, the Chief Judge announced that all the judges and contestants
and deemed eligible for their roles. She drops a red scarf to let the games
begin.

Table topic: Telescope or Microscope – which is more important?

Will Clayton - area F2 WINNER – makes it funny and serious at the same
time.

*Bob Meddles and Jessica Nowell* tell us why they think neither of one is
more important.

Rich Hopkins – area F4 WINNER – says both are important.

*Bill Farrand, Shivani Jain, and Hali Young* – they all say why either of
one is important (want to know what they said? YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE!)

International Speech:

Bob Meddles – area F2 WINNER – says “sometimes you don’t get what you want,
but you get what you need – a candy cane!”

*Matt Ake* says “if you cannot be a joker just wear a funny hat”

*Jay Irwin* says – sometimes you realize your greatest gifts inside a snow
cave under an avalanche with all body parts shattered to pieces…8 hours
never-ending journey.

Rich Hopkins – area F4 WINNER – says “wipe in wipe off”- lets wipe in all
the love and compliments we get, cherish what is closest to our hearts
before it is too late.

*Mark Rapp – area F4 SECOND PLACE* – says “we all got something” – he left
many eyes in the audience wet and many hearts halted by the end of his
speech.

*May Tran* says - she finds CE in every step of her life – Challenge and
Empowerment. What is your CE? She asked.

*Hali Young* says - what we think, we are. Look into a mirror every morning
and say how beautiful you are to yourself.

*Dirk* fires questions to each contestant at the end and hands over the
certificate of participants with a handshake (yes I said handshake AGAIN).

District Officers came up on the stage and said…halleluiah to all!

Shiny trophies were handed to winners.

Its “cheeeeese” time…pictures with Governors and F2 Co-Chair *Jonathan
Sabar* and F4 Co-Chair *Linda Brotman-Evans*.

*Terri Larsen*, F4 Area Governor, closes the meeting!

See you all tomorrow!

Best,

Richa
