Greetings Fellow Toastmasters,
Our toastmaster for the evening was our wonderful Katelynn Pau. Her theme
was zoom tips. There were 17 members that started the meeting. By the end
of the meeting there were 15.
The club inducted Andy Huang to our club. Welcome Andy. You are going to
be awesome. Word of the Day was Perturbed. Troubled in mind, feeling or
showing agitation.
Speaker #1. Bill Farrand
Race to the moon. 1957 Russia. Longest space walk. Gemini. Great
history on Russia and the US space programs.
Speaker #2. Minjun Zhao.
OCD. Obsessive compulsive disorder. Debunking myth. Repetitive
movements. Excessive hand washing fear of contamination. Empty paper even
though she knew the answers. Demon inside her.
Speaker #3. Alan Wong
What would you do if you had an extra 30 minutes? Shorten meetings from
two hours to 90 minutes. Gain 26.07 hours at the end of the year. Cutting
off the fat and making the meetings more lean and mean.
Table Topics Master Pattie Apple
1. Andy Huang. Q. What is the craziest thing you've ever eaten? A.
China night market. Bugs on a stick. Frogs taste like chicken.
2. Jeff Stoll. Q. Live without a cell phone or video game console. A.
Work or play? Cell phones relate to work. Video games get to kill people
and collect bounty for fun. Prefer playstation over cell phone.
3. Elizabeth Wong. Q. If you built a house out of food, what kind of
food would your house be made of? A. Tachi. Long chips and spicy.
4. Aaron Schmitz (guest). Q. Life gets stuck at what age? A. Perturbed
if stuck with one age. Pick age of college years because they were fun and
awesome.
5. Robin McIntosh. Q. If you went to another planet and got stranded,
what do you wish to bring with you? A. If cold, a blanket. If it's hot,
I cannot do anything about that. I would forget my toothbrush but I would
remember cookies and sweets. I would have English style teeth.
General Evaluator was our amazing Jeff Stoll.
1. Evaluator Revathy Sukamaran on Bill Farrand.
Good introduction, grabbed audience attention. Good story. Slides made it
easier for the audience to relate to the story. Improve on slides to have
the person's name on them. Technical information. Great research.
2. Luis Estrada on Minjun Zhao.
Great speech. Relevant topic. Awareness. Good pauses, good flow just
like a Ted Talk. Work on screen distance so we can see more of you.
Speech was 6 minutes long; stretch it. Q and A was great. Smiling and
relaxed when you answered questions. During speech you seemed more
stressed.
3. Jennifer Dunne on Alan Wong
Present plan and fulfilled objectives. Speech was well organized and good
preparation. Not losing anything and reiterated trimming the fat. Watch
gestures. Knocked it out of the park with repetition.
Jeff Stoll on evaluators. Good, strong evaluations and all evaluators
brought up good points to improve. All evaluators finished on a positive
note.

Best Table Topics: Jennifer, Aaron, Jeff, and Robin.
Best Evaluator: Jennifer Dunne.
Congratulations to all the ribbon winners. A very big welcome to Andy for
joining the club. It was another fantastic meeting. I thought the meeting
flowed very smoothly and Katelynn's theme on zoom tips was very helpful.
Reading between the lines. I thought our guest Aaron Schmitz did a really
good job with table topics and even utilized the word of the day. I
thought Jeff Stoll also did an excellent job with General Evaluator
bringing up good points with evaluators. I've said it in the past and it
is worth mentioning again, we all here together to support each other and
to improve ourselves to be better communicators and to be better people.
And this last meeting felt just like that. Maybe because it was good
energy from everyone or maybe Bill's moon was aligned just right.
