#10272: Incorporation of GCC 4.8 ----------------------------+---------------------------- Reporter: korli | Owner: nobody Type: enhancement | Status: assigned Priority: normal | Milestone: Unscheduled Component: Build System | Version: R1/Development Resolution: | Keywords: Blocked By: | Blocking: Has a Patch: 1 | Platform: All ----------------------------+---------------------------- Comment (by bonefish): @korli: Yeah, separate static versions of libgcc and libsupc++ for boot loader, kernel, and kernel add-ons are probably needed anyway. @pulkomandy: I believe the libstdc++ issue still exists. The solution requires reorganizing some packages. libsupc++ and libstdc++ should be pulled out of the gcc package into a separate package (probably also with separate devel package; not sure yet, if we need a separate package for either library). The Haiku system package will consequently no longer contain these libraries. The packages will be available as build features (like ICU and zlib) instead. For gcc 2 the libstdc++ sources are in the Haiku repository. We either remove them and build the library externally as a package, so everything works analogously to gcc 4. Or we keep things as they are, continuing the different handling. -- Ticket URL: <https://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/10272#comment:46> Haiku <https://dev.haiku-os.org> Haiku - the operating system.
