 Compare the screenshot on this page with the live demo. the simple
 "horizontal stripes" pattern works, all others are broken. There's a link
 to another post with even crazier ones, but the stripes patterns are now
 commonly used to do animated progress bar on websites (for example at
 http://getbootstrap.com/).

Comment:

 Things are working reasonably well now. Beware of the page linked in this
 ticket, it is quite old and uses a non-final version of the spec so some
 gradients won't always render as expected. Please open separate tickets
 for specific websites if you have more isssues with this.
