It works, the Bitstream Charter font is that serif font you see if you use
English locale and remove DejaVu. vl_gothic is used as a fallback only
where the default font has no glyph coverage. Not sure if vl_gothic is
included in the boostrap image, or if it's even a good idea to include it
since that would involve downloading a pre-built package.
