I looked fastly at the code. I am not 100% sure however, but I think i
have found the problem. TransportButton is filtering keys with a
BMessageFilter but also BFilePanel is using a similar technique. In
particular the B_KEY_DOWN_MESSAGE looks like the source of problems, look
in kits/tracker/FilePanelPriv.cpp and TransportButton.cpp of
SoundRecorder.
