#12018: StyledEdit can't edit existing files

StyledEdit under 49058 (GCC2 hybrid x86) cannot edit existing text files.
Creating a new text file works fine but when I open an existing one the
cursor disappears and the only operation that works in the text editing
area of the window is highlighting (and copying to the buffer) text. You
can't even delete selections.
