Running {{{strace}}} on the testcase from #9576 doesn't show any ports
being created when a menu is opened (or closed), and I don't see any ports
that look suspicious / unfreed. So this is not a bug in the Interface Kit.
I did a bit of poking around in app_server (the next likely culprit) but
found nothing...
