 It would be nice to keep the "letterboxing" code around (with some fixes).
 In some cases I prefer a pixel-perfect image with borders arund it, rather
 than scaling and stretching the picture to fit the panel no matter what.

 I understand others may disagree with this so maybe make it a setting
 somewhere.

 The only reason I see for maintaining either is running old apps that
 wouldn't support my native display resolution. Otherwise, why would we use
 non-native modes anyway?
