It seems that in an attempt to "fix" spam issues we keep changing the
modules and settings on the Drupal site.
We either need to accept a certain amount of spam (either by ignoring it,
or having moderators constantly deleting it), or we can further restrict
the site to the point where very little spam makes it through (it will
always get through as long as we allow new users to register without
administrator approval).
I would be happy to undo the current spam filtering modules and settings,
but I have zero time to moderate. Over the years, it seems the number of
website admins keeps diminishing to the point where we have only a few
that actually do anything, and it is only reactive, not proactive. I had
set up the previous solution(s) that were working fine for years... but
they were all changed around a few months ago.
