The buttons are "clearly" outside the tabbed area, as implied by the
horizontal line separating them from the other controls :)
I cna see your point, of course, but having to "default" all tabs one
after the other when your settings are messed up (someone set up a klingon
font and black text on black background, for example), it's nice to be
able to do so with a single button.
You should have used the "revert" button, not "defaults", as that would
revert things to how they were when you opened the window. Maybe the
"defaults" button, being quite destructive, would deserve a little warning
in some cases.
