I just recently upgraded to beta1. I needed to run 'man', and it failed
because it couldn't find the utilities it needed.
Turned out that 'man.conf' had links pointing through a specific (and
wrong!) package version. It had (correctly) not been replaced by the
updated version, but the package has a post-install script that is
supposed to fix the links. I unpacked the man hpkg, and ran the script
manually, and it did exactly as it should. So apparently it was not run
when I upgraded.
(I notice that the man.conf in my 4-year old partition also has package-
specific links, but they match the version in this case, and in fact there
is no post-install script there.)
