 Also, it's probably possible to exhaust the physical memory pool simply by
 having a lot of USB drives (probably a dozen or something like that) and
 doing "regular" I/O on them all at once. So a small transfer could then
 fail due to being out-of-memory, so the driver needs to have some plan for
 this regardless.
