I don't think CharacterMap should be merged with font-related apps. It's
not so much a font viewing tool, but more a tool to search special
characters that are not available on your keyboard. You would normally use
it to copypaste such characters into a text you're writing or something
like that.
I think FontDemo is clearly a demo and has no real purpose. We could
consider retiring it now that we have real apps drawing text. Maybe some
of its features can be integrated into FontDemo, but I'm not sure a lot of
it is relevant.
FontBoy is a nice font viewer/picker, and we could consider including it
in Haiku. I was going to say it doesn't work too well with many fonts
installed, but it is probably not worse than the current solution of a
popup menu with endless list of fonts.
