#16493: Non-working mail_daemon if there's no network when it starts

This is hrev54487.
At least that's what I guess. I suffer from the intel_extreme driver
sometimes taking a minute or two until my screen comes alive. After it
does, I often have to connect manually. The mail_daemon was started long
before that, of course.\\
In this situation, checking for new mail doesn't work. I have to restart
the mail_daemon manually (tip: hold SHIFT while right-clickin the mailbox
to get a "Shutdown mail services").
No clues in the syslog.
