OK. I would still very much like to see this feature (maybe even with a
virtually enlarged "hot zone" so you wouldn't have to aim that precisely
on the small border, see this old

You think it might be better to release ownership for this ticket for the
time being? You can still grab it once more when you find the time and
nobody else got it working.
