#6696: 7za can't allocate required memory. ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Reporter: kvdman | Owner: nobody Type: bug | Status: closed Priority: normal | Milestone: R1 Component: System/Kernel | Version: R1/Development Resolution: duplicate | Keywords: 7za Blocked By: | Has a Patch: 0 Platform: All | Blocking: ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Comment (by axeld): It actually does support overcommitting, but it does so only where it makes sense. It's not helpful to let an allocation succeed when the system has no means to make it work (instead of failing early on, such an application would then just crash later on). IOW it's not a current limitation, it's the way all sane operating systems work :-) -- Ticket URL: <http://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/6696#comment:7> Haiku <http://dev.haiku-os.org> Haiku - the operating system.
