 I might recall that incorrectly, but I thought you had a case where a
 single-step would run the program to completion, unless a breakpoint had
 been set before (in which case it would properly single-step). At that
 time I assumed that to be a bug in Debugger itself, but this single-step
 problem in gdb sounds similar enough to suggest a kernel bug.
