The workaround is working for me on my Acer aspire one.
Some things i noticed. The native resolution is not detected, i was
expecting 1024x600 at 60hz but it first appeared at 640x 350 at 70 hz
according to the pref panel.
1024x600 at 60hz say invalid mode. 1024x600 at 70 hz work fine.
