Booting from the latest nightly build, Haiku starts up in a strange video
 mode on my

Acer AOD250 netbook] (see attached screenshots). This machine has an Intel
945GSE graphics chip and uses the intel_extreme driver.

This has been a problem with all the nightly builds I've tried, going back
about a half dozen or so. This problem doesn't exist in R1/A3.

Seems the screen settings are defaulting to 640x350 with 8-bit colour and
a refresh rate of 70.1 Hz. This apparently causes the LCD panel to go a
bit wonky; the grey patches visible in the screenshot actually fade in
 over a few seconds.

Manually changing the display settings to what they should be works fine,
although oddly selecting 60 Hz for the refresh rate fails with "invalid
mode" or similar, despite this being the default setting in Windows.
 (Choosing 70 Hz succeeds.)
