Are you sure your CDs have CD-Text?
There are two ways used in Haiku to get information about a CD: cd-text
(embedded in the CD) and cddb (downloaded from an online service). For the
latter it is expected that there is a slight delay as the data is
downloaded (we cache this data so on second time it is available
immediately).
An easy way to check is to look at the "Title" attribute for the tracks.
If it is set, it means the data comes from CDDB and the delay is normal.
Here cd-text works fine, at least, on the CD I could test it with (not
much CDs have this feature in my collection).
