I haven’t created a ticket about this, per se, because it’s illusive, but it
may be that others have encountered something similar...and might even have
insights on where the problem lies, and what to do about it.
Since we develop for Haiku, we have literally hundreds of Haiku-based machines
out there, and for the most part, they run very dependably. The one achilles
heel we have seen is when running shell scripts, especially when they are run
repeatedly. If we do calls to a script that does an hourly download, for
example, or sends music meta data information over Ethernet every time a song
starts playing, or does an rsync backup, it’s not uncommon to have a KDL or a
crash.
We would LOVE to get to the bottom of this and solve it, so if everybody on the
list can share their insights, advice, speculation, etc., and/or I can answer
questions to help narrow this down, that’d be great.
Thanks,
Dane
