Yes, dropped my mic up there last night and plugged it in and tested it. Sound
good.

Thanks Sarah, ok updated list of kit: Simon brought two stands in, and with our
own floor stand (now repaired!) we have three, so only really need the
microphone now. I have wired it up and left the cable dangling off the
stand....
also added some new Mic shields so now the studio looks proper colourful ! It
might need some careful EQ to elongate Hum...
And the guest Mic now works.... there was nothing, repeat NOTHING wrong with
it. Removing the old Sponge revealed it had been “modified” by persons unknown
(none of our crew btw) and had been wrapped ininsulating tapes round the
important side vents on the side of the head shell which completely altered its
characteristics... more annoyed than cross. God news though as it’s all working
fine now......
Let’s all take care of these loans or it will be expensive for us....
Also, while in the subject of studio, temp CD player installed, it’s a little
quirky, if the eject button doesn’t work, then press And hold it.... new second
hand decks coming early next week...

shields, have just bought a job lot, they should fit most Mic’s… drop them up
to the studio if you can, or at Nicks house…

I have two (Maplin - a bit flimsey) boom mic stands and a Beyer M58 mic. This
model was designed for news gathering so has quite nice a response for speech.
It did have a decent wind shield too but it has been stored for some time and
this has started to disintegrate. If you think it will suite, I will order a
new wind shield and we could try this. I also have xlr fitted cables if
required. They are available for the rest of the broadcast.
I noticed, particularly in Tony's local programme, that he could have done
with at last one more mic when interviewing the band. They were all trying to
gather round just one - sounded very echoey.
Like Sarah, I would obviously appreciate everything back in one piece.

Afternoon all,
O.K. so with all the malarkey about the Mic’s this year, and POSSIBLY
(capital letters…) one of them is not quite up to Parr, coupled with a Request
for a freestanding Mic stand(s), and some more Mics for Studio guests. Should
we take this opportunity and order some more mics and stands? If so, what sort
of money, or shall we ask around and borrow some kit? If so, does anyone have
spare Mics and stands that could loan 2 or 3 for the remains of the Month?
Please lets have a decision in the next 24/48 hours….
