i will this never forget this in my life !
was 15mins into prog . looked up and there's a man , he said I'm from Ofcom I'm
here to check out your transmitter .
luckily unknown to me, Steve our host had sent him into me while he unlocked
the transmitter room and turned down the power to 50 watts up the cable and
locked up again ., i had briefed steve to do this if we had a visit but said
we haven't had a visit ever only one threat to visit over 26 years .
Anyway ofcom man was there two hours checking things we made him welcome,
later came back after taking us off air for a short period and said all ok
transmitter is clean and top quality but you are running slightly too much
power after cable loss and to turn it down a bit .
From now on gate will be locked and if Steve is out no access to transmitter
.... as a re inspection maybe carried out .
There a lot more to this visit , if you need more info ring me tomorrow as I'm
available all day .
PS i think our saving grace was there was a lift on (high pressure ) making the
French station strong on our frequency .
