Unfortunately like many things at Tesla it is a form on the web, a simple two
pager I believe and then you submit the electrical bid and if approved they
send the chargers and then pay the electrician directly.

Dave,
Who’s the best person to contact with Tesla to inquire about the destination
charger program?
Also, found out the other day that the GRSM is woefully understaffed right now.
Going to be difficult to get their response/approval/concurrence on anything we
might want to do in the park in the coming months.
Peace

To me Blink ended up meaning on the blink as in they did not work. They had a
touch screen interface that was totally unusable after about 2 years. Very
poor repair record. Try Tesla’s destination charger program. They will donate
good high quality units and help pay an electrician to install. The put in a
mix of Tesla and J-1772 plugs.

Dave,
Just history… Blink was the equipment company that emerged out of the ARRA (to
use dirty words, “Stimulus”) funding from 2009 that began with “The EV Project”
and ECOtality. If I remember correctly, $150M in fed. funding, $150M in cost
share. The three western states (CA< OR, WA), TN, TX and DC ended up being the
trial states where infrastructure was installed… and learned from. Some things
went OK, but then the project went totally south as in belly up. The equipment
they installed was… Blink (the cute “i” and “n” combined… I like the design).
Most of the equipment project wide and in TN was operational about 50% of the
time – not good. I first-hand – owning a Leaf at the time – saw units all over
the place where two L2s were installed and perhaps one worked. Some regularly
working units were my mainstay in downtown Knoxville because that was all we
had.

back when it was there.
I can’t remember what year (2014?) a new group (now called CarCharging) bought
out what remained of equipment and started trying to make something out of the
ashes. Clearly they are still doing so, but my comment below comes from all the
above, and the fact they still charge to much to charge. Also, had a blink wall
unit on my home for 3 years. Had problem within the first week and, luckily,
BESCO had fixed so many of them that they basically knew what the problem was
and although informed by Blink at the time that they couldn’t swap parts, they
had “several” broken ones and used a part of one of those to fix mine. It
worked the rest of the time but was a) in the shade, b) not in a public place
where it could be easily broken, and c) and also out of the elements.

Jonathan, why do you think that is? I’m trying to get my employer to consider
installation of a few stations to take advantage of the tax credits expiring
12/31.
I’d mentioned blink and a few others is why I ask.

Hello Gary
I’m new to the Blink team here in Knoxville and wanted to connect as a local
point of contact for you and the Sustainability Department of Tennessee . I’m
working on offering EV Charging Infrastructures and supporting alternative
green energy solutions.
<image001.jpg>
I’m not sure this necessarily falls on your plate, as electric vehicles
continue to appeal to consumers, there is a growing need for public charging
stations across cities, counties, and states.. That being said, I wanted to see
if you’d be open to learning how we can enhance the current community
sustainability and green living initiatives with EV Charging Stations. .
Thanks for your time and looking forward to helping anyway that I can.
Regards,
Conseulo
