Subject: [knoxev] KEVA Webinars for National Drive Electric Week
[External Email]
Hello, KEVA members,
It’s National Drive Electric Week time again as most of you know. We’ve got
our webinar schedule set for Saturday, September 26th. Please tell ALL your
friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, church congregation members. Heck,
even your enemies!
I’d like to encourage everyone to go to the NDEW website and register for one
or more of the eight webinars we’re offering. (If you’re a panelist, you can
register as a volunteer.) Go to
driveelectricweek.org<http://driveelectricweek.org> and enter Knoxville in the
search box. Then scroll down to see the list of webinars. Clicking on a title
will take you to more information and a place to RSVP. Your webinar sign-in
will allow you to drop off and rejoin as you wish.
Here’s a big bonus. During the Q&A session for each webinar, we’re giving away
one $50 Amazon gift card to some lucky person who’s present online (compliments
of Electrify America). We’ll draw a name from those signed in and ask that
person to reply to confirm that they are actually in front of their computer.
That’s eight different chances.
During the intermissions between sessions, we’ll be running short videos and
posting fun & interesting facts about EVs.
The sessions we have planned are:
9:00 am (ET) Introduction to Electric Vehicles – This 60-minute overview will
provide an outline of the day’s webinars, include a session called “EV 101”
covering EV basics and terminology, and a virtual test drive of a 2020 Audi
eTron Sportback. Q&A at the end. Hosts: Susan Goodwin and Eric Cardwell
10:15 am (ET) Batteries and Charging – A 30-minute webinar covering battery
basics; Level I, II, and DCFC Chargers, Charging Ports, Charging at Home, and
Charging on the Road. Q&A at the end. Hosts: Jeff Shoffner and Gary Bulmer
11:00 am (ET) Virtual Test Drive – Tesla Model 3 – A 15 minute drive with our
neighbor who had never even ridden in an EV takes a Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor
AWD car for a spin. Q&A at the end. Host: Jack Goodwin
11:30 am (ET) Customs and Conversions - This 45-minute webinar will feature
two KEVA members who have hands-on experience in customs and conversions. Mark
converted a Honda Insight hybrid to full battery electric operation, and Gary
converted a Bernardi kit car to an electric vehicle. The session will include
a video from East Tennessee’s John McMillian about his EV manufacturing
startup. Q&A at the end. Hosts: Mark Bishop, Gary Bulmer
12:30 pm (ET) Road Trips - This 60-minute webinar starts with recognition of
KEVA member Mark Bishop who received the 2019 EAA Trip Ambassador Award. It
then focuses on the planning, travel, and lessons learned on an 18-day 5,300
mile EV road trip from East Tennessee to Yellowstone National Park and back.
Q&A at the end. Hosts: Jack and Susan Goodwin
1:45 pm (ET) The Future of Electric Trucks with Will and Bill - In this
30-minute session, hosts will cover the latest information available on
electric trucks coming to market in the near future. It will include expected
capacity and performance data. Q&A at the end. Hosts: Will Schleter and Bill
Williams
2:30 pm (ET) Electric Motorcycles/Motor Scooters, eBikes, and eScooters -
There are already more electric ways to travel than just automobiles. This
30-minute session will feature information on electric motorcycles and motor
scooters, electric bicycles (eBikes), and electric stand-up scooters
(eScooters). Q&A at the end. Host: TBD
3:15 pm (ET) Your Guide to Adopting Used EVs - A 60-minute webinar covering
used electric vehicles, why to buy one, what’s out there, which is right for
you, where to look, and battery degradation. This session will include a
real-time, online search of websites offering used EVs. Q&A at the end.
Hosts: Marty Young and Russell Kennedy
4:15 pm (ET) Closing Remarks - 15 mins Thanks for dropping in. Resources.
Closing video. Host: Susan Goodwin
Hope to see you, virtually, on Saturday.
