DAIMLER CEO GETS SERIOUS
- wants to cut 1,100 management positions
- all German employees should give up their wage increases, slated for 2020 in
their labor contract
- Many employees and employee representatives see the austerity plans of Ola
Källenius as a challenge to fight sueddeutsche.de/wirtschaft/dai…
From the article: Not only that, but Daimler outsourced the EQC’s electric
motor to ZF Friedrichshafen. Daimler CEO Källenius told 300 Workers Council
reps that it is unlikely that new electric drivetrain production would be moved
in-house to Stuttgart. Instead, the contract with ZF Friedrichshafen would
likely continue. Workers Council reps called such a move ‘a declaration of
war,’ because the supplier will acquire considerable electric drivetrain
know-how and perhaps even become a competitor in the near future. Said a
Workers Council spokesman, “Now management has demanded that we match ZF
Friedrichshafen‘s price if we are to produce our electric drivetrains at
Daimler—that cannot work—the very heart of our new cars will not be built
in-house!”
