I feel the need to chime in with my personal tire installation experience:
I went to the Alpharetta service center to have new tires installed on my Model
3, mostly to have it aligned at the same time. I brought aftermarket Goodyear
Exhilarate tires with me that I had bought from Tire Rack. I was very surprised
that Tesla's policy is to not install aftermarket anything, even just tires.
They eventually let me sign a waiver to proceed.
Higher-performance tires will definitely affect range, which I can see
upsetting some people if they don't know what to expect. So far, the change in
handling, efficiency, noise, etc. has been almost imperceptible, but it has
been pretty cold recently, so the tires won't be performing as well as they
could.

FYI, ended up at Fleet Tire.
They don’t have pucks, but they said they’ve done a few Tesla’s and were
familiar - that they have to use their jacks. I watched them do it using
these jacks (

which have a flat jacking surface instead of the cupped style and only touch
the lift points.
I went ahead and ordered a puck kit to make it easier next time.
FYI, cost wise for a mount/balance calling around for 235/45R18’s:
Fleet $18/tire
Fisher $25/tire
Discount Tire $35/tire
Surprised at the variation in pricing. Fleet was not only the cheapest,
but they’re the closest to me (downtown Knoxville).
Also, for those interested, I got Vredestein Quatrac Pro’s. I’ll let you
know how they ride if you’d like after I’ve driven them a bit. Ended up
$163/tire and $722 after tax and such. With mount and balance should be right
at $800 all in.

And if you find a technician there who has had Tesla experience,
get his/her name for everyone.

Just checking as I know Fisher was previously recommended by
some folks here - they seemed confused on the phone when I asked if they
had lift pucks - do their lifts have them integrated? Did you check when
you went?
