[mac4theblind] FTP downloading help

Good evening:
I would like to access and download from a FTP site. I would like to do this
on either my Mac or preferably my IPhone 4S running IOS 7.
I have tried the following:
1. FTP sprite. I am able to enter in all details for my log in details, but
even though I enter in a name for the site, it keeps telling me I need to fill
in a name. I have tried everything, but no luck.
2. I have tried FTP manager free. I am able to access the site, but when I go
to download a file, it doesn’t give me a download option. It tells me to click
edit, which I do, and choose the files I want to download. However, when I
click Edit, it just tells me the features of the payd version, but does not let
me edit. I do not mind paying for the app but want to know the files will
download before I pay. If I click on the individual files, it just tells me to
download to the local folder and unzip the file.
On the Mac, I know there is transmit, but it seems like a pretty steep price
tag for what I want… Same with CyberDuck.
Am I destined to be in FTP limbo forever, or can someone help me with other
suggestions?
